FAQ's – Second Nature
I purchased my Second Nature product from eBay or a garage sale, am I eligible for a warranty?
No. Only new purchases from a Regal Lager Authorized Dealer appearing on this site are eligible for warranty. The purchase of any Regal Lager brands from a non authorized dealer voids all product warranties.
BOTTLES AND NIPPLES
What makes the Second Nature Feeding System so unique?
The Second Nature Nipple is designed to function
like Mom's breast. It has a thin membrane with multiple micro holes. When baby
suckles on the nipple the membrane flexes, opening the holes and allowing milk
to be released. The harder the baby suckles the more the membrane flexes and
the more milk flows. Baby controls the flow – similar to breastfeeding.
-
Lets your baby control the flow
-
Reduces swallowed air and colic
-
Helps avoid nipple confusion
Will the Second Nature Nipple fit a bottle of a different
brand?
The Second Nature Nipple has a special venting
system that is designed to work with Second Nature Nursers. Therefore, we
cannot guarantee that it will not leak or vent properly, if used with a
different brand of bottle.
Do I have to change flow rates as my baby grows?
The Second Nature Nipple works just like Mom’s breast — when
your baby needs more flow, she will suckle harder and the holes will become
larger, allowing the flow to increase. You don’t have to buy different flow
rate nipples as with the Second Nature Nipple your baby controls the
flow herself. Mom does not change her nipples, so why should you have to change
nipples when bottle feeding?
Do Second Nature bottles leak?
No, they are completely spill proof!
How should I wash the bottles and nipples?
The Second Nature Nipple and Bottle Brush
has been uniquely designed with a special syringe end for safe and effective
cleaning of our nipple’s sensitive membrane. Second Nature Nipples are
easily damaged by other bottle and nipple brushes, as the bristles on those can
easily rupture the thin membrane of the nipple.
The nipple has become gray and cloudy. What can I do?
The nipple is made of silicone and might, with use, look cloudy or
turn a grayish color; this discoloration is not harmful and can be removed by
boiling the nipple in regular water.
Are the bottles microwave safe?
Yes. However we do not recommend warming milk or formula in the
microwave as the microwave heats unevenly; "hotspots" may burn your baby's
mouth. Furthermore, many valuable nutrients in breast milk are destroyed by the
microwaves.
What are the bottles
and nipples made of?
The Second Nature Nipple is made of an FDA approved food
grade silicone; the bottle is made of Polycarbonate plastic.
Does the nipple contain phthalates and/or latex?
No.
When should I use the Preemie Nipple?
The Second Nature Preemie Nipple is especially designed for premature
infants who are too weak to breastfeed. The nipple has a smaller size and an
easier flow so that you can feed your baby until she is strong enough to start
breastfeeding. As the Preemie Nipple works just like Mom’s breast, it will help
in the transition to breastfeeding. Always consult your pediatrician about
feeding your preemie.
When should I use the Cereal Nipple?
The Second Nature Cereal Nipple has larger holes and is designed
especially for feeding your baby milk or formula fortified with cereal. Also,
if your baby has difficulty getting enough milk out of the Second Nature
Nipple, you can try the easier flow of the Cereal Nipple instead.
TRANSITION NURSER
What is a Transition Nurser?
The Transition Nurser is used when your child is ready to train to
drink from a spout. The Transition Nurser spout is soft and vents similarly to
the Second Nature All Stages Nipple and therefore will not be foreign to your
child. It is also perfect to use for a child that has been exclusively
breastfeed when starting to train to drink from a cup. The spout has the same
micro holes as the nipple and does not leak.
When should I use the Transition Spout?
When your child is ready, introduce the Second Nature Super-Soft Transition
Spout to help the transition from breast or bottle to cup. The Transition Spout
is designed to teach your child to begin using a spout rather than a nipple;
this will aid in the transition to a cup. Most babies are ready to transition
between 9–12 months. However, you may introduce the handles of the Transition
Nurser as a first step, as early as 6 months.
STAY KOOL CUPS
What are Stay Kool Cups?
The Stay Kool Cups have a freezable center. Place the empty cup in the
freezer for one hour or more. Pour desired liquid into cup; the freezable
center will keep the liquid cooler longer than an insulated cup.
What is The Stay Kool Cup freezable center made out of?
The Stay Kool Cup’s freezable center is an FDA approved food safe
cooling gel.
The valve on the Stay Kool Cup pops out when my child is sucking on the
spout. What should I do?
When the cup and the valve are clean and dry, push the valve firmly into place.
Do The Stay Kool Cups leak?
No, they are spill proof. After the child has been drinking, a small
amount of liquid will remain between the valve and the spout opening. These few
drops may come out if the cup is on its side or upside down.
THREE-IN-ONE PORTABLE WARMER
How long will it take to warm up milk with the Second Nature Three-In-One
Bottle Warmer?
Between 10-20 minutes, depending on the amount liquid/food you are
heating, how cold it is, and how warm you desire the liquid/food to be.
You should always shake the bottle or stir the baby food and test the
temperature every 5 minutes. When desired warmth is reached, shake the bottle
or stir the food and again check the temperature before feeding your child. To
test the milk in the Second Nature bottle squeeze the top of the nipple
together while turning the bottle upside down.
Can I make the warmer heat faster?
Yes, by adding one ounce of water to the bottom of the warmer, heating
time decreases somewhat. Caution! The water in the warmer
becomes very hot and can potentially cause burns. Always wipe water drops off
the bottle before feeding your child.
How many “warmings” can I get out of the ThermaCell Cartridge?
20-30 “warmings” depending on how much you are heating, how cold it is
to start and how warm you desire it to be.
Are ThermaCell® cartridges safe?
Yes. The ThermaCell cartridge has been thoroughly tested for your safety.
Can I take my Three-in-One Portable Bottle Warmer on a
plane?
It is perfectly safe and legal to carry your Portable Bottle Warmer on a plane. The International Airlines Transport Assoc. (IATA) rules (paragraph 2.3.5.9) allow one butane portable bottle warmer per passenger in carry on or checked baggage. The only stipulations are that you do not use it during the flight, that it is in its case during the flight and that you do not carry spare cartridges. Hence, a portable bottle warmer with one cartridge attached, (making a complete unit) may be carried as mentioned above. It is not permitted to carry cartridges or refills that are not part of portable bottle warmer.
Changes in cabin pressure during flight will not effect ThermaCell cartridges. They are manufactured and tested to meet ASTM (American Society For Testing and Materials) standards for pressure vessels of this type and size. They can withstand many times the normal butane pressure.
In an airplane, both the passenger and the baggage compartments are pressurized so that the apparent altitude within is no more than 7,000 feet. This is so you will be comfortable and not need oxygen even though the plane may be cruising at 30,000 to 40,000 feet. So there is a very modest pressure reduction in flight. No problem for a ThermaCell cartridge. A ThermaCell cartridge could easily withstand a complete vacuum without bursting.
